Continued use of the website and/or phone or tablet application implies agreement to these terms and conditions and privacy policy.
If you do not agree with any of the following, please opt out of our services.
By using the Speakingo app and/or website, you agree to the following understandable terms and conditions:
1. general provisions
- The term Speakingo refers to a unique, proprietary language learning program that can be used via a website or cell phone app. Speakingo is owned by the company “SPEAKINGO Nauka języka angielskiego dr Grzegorz Kusnierz” (“we” in this agreement) registered in Poland, NIP: 7542628253, REGON: 160273308. Address: ul. Stefan Czarniecki 5/106
53-650 Wrocław. Email address: info (at) speakingo.com, tel. +44 (0) 7591 738 470. Hence, in all legal matters, Polish law applies. - The creator of the Speakingo English language learning program and sole owner of the company is Dr. Grzegorz Kuśnierz (“I” in this agreement), a British and Polish citizen, known in the UK as Dr. Greg Kay.
- The term “you” or “user” means a user of the Speakingo website and/or application.
- Failure to agree to these terms of use of Speakingo as well as the privacy and cookie policy contained herein will result in your inability to register with Speakingo.
- The account assigned during registration is only for one person. If you suspect that it has been taken over by others or have any other doubts, please contact us immediately.
- We are not responsible for any damages related to the use of Speakingo.
- If you have any questions, please contact us by email through the contact page, which we will try to answer promptly and comprehensively.
2. service
- The service recommends on temporary and paid access to the Speakingo English language learning program. You get access to materials covering six levels, with ten lessons per level.
- In the four parts of a single study session (“lesson”), you first simply listen and learn the new material with its translation into native English, then answer the questions you have previously processed, in the third part you learn how to ask questions, and in the fourth part you answer questions from the lesson you have just processed. The interaction involves talking to a computer or smartphone, which, using modern speech recognition technology, converts your voice into text and evaluates whether the correct answer was given and, based on this, individually selects a list of questions for repetition.
- The course allows students to practice spelling and punctuation on an online dictation course, where the student writes sentences from the course and Speakingo verifies their correctness.
- The course allows three types of online tests (unit test, progress test, placement test). The tests allow you to track your progress in learning i.e. verify the achievement of the service goal.
- Lessons cover all levels, from beginner (levels A1 and A2) to intermediate (levels B1 and B2) to advanced levels (C1 and C2).
- The site uses a proprietary list of about 2,000 of the most popular and important words in the English language.
- The didactics of Speakingo’s online English course include the most important grammatical constructions, which you learn like a child through repetition, not through dry and impractical rule learning.
- The contents and content of the site are subject to change at any time and without notice to users.
- Neither we nor external parties offer any warranty as to the accuracy, efficiency, completeness or appropriateness of the information, services or materials contained in Speakingo. You agree that errors may have crept into Speakingo. If we catch them, please contact us to improve our services, but we do not take any legal responsibility for them.
- We reserve the right to liquidate, discontinue or change the Speakingo site at any time without notice to users.
- The website can be found at https://speakingo.com mobile apps, on the other hand, are available in the App Store (iPhone), Huawei AppGallery and Google Play (Android). Tuition is also available in different languages for students with different mother tongues (Bulgarian, Italian, Russian, Spanish, German, Vietnamese, Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian) learning English.
- Associated with the site is the free Speakingo blog.
3 Hardware requirements
- To use the computer version of Speakingo you need a working desktop or laptop computer with a microphone and speakers and the Chrome browser installed. Other browsers are working to develop efficient speech recognition technology – if they can handle Speakingo at the time of reading this, there is no contraindication to using other browsers. The Chrome browser can be downloaded for free from the manufacturer’s website https://www.google.pl/chrome/browser/desktop/.
- To use the Speakingo app, you need an Android phone (5.0 or later) or iOS (version 9.0 or later for iPhones, iPads and iPods) or macOS 11.0 (or later) and a Mac with an Apple M1 chip.
- The site also works in Chrome browsers installed on cell phones using the Android operating system (versions newer than 2016).
- Companies are developing speech recognition technology, so by the time you read this perhaps speech recognition has already been implemented on your device – during registration we will check if your device is working and inform you according to our knowledge. If you have technical problems, you can always cancel for free during the free trial period, or start using another device (such as a desktop computer at home instead of a cell phone).
- The free trial period serves, among other things, so that you can or may check if Speakingo works properly on your hardware. By deciding to purchase the course, you confirm that there are no technical contraindications that would prevent you from using the service.
- The site must not be used by robots, automatons, spiders, etc., except for the purpose of indexing the site in a search engine.
- It is allowed to log in to one account from a maximum of 5 devices.
- Users can use their account on any supported devices, such as iOS phones and PCs.
4. technical and content support
- Speakingo offers support in case of technical problems with the use of the website and/or the mobile application via email communication. However, it does not guarantee the resolution of technical problems that lie on the user’s device.
- Speakingo offers content support while learning on the website and/or mobile app via email communication.
- Questions are usually answered on the same day, but no later than 10 working days.
- Before sending a message, I also invite you to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
- Your opinion is important to us. Write boldly with any comments, both complimentary and critical, which allow us to constantly improve the service.
5. the Speakingo blog, Facebook and Youtube channel
- Use of the Speakingo blog, Facebook channels and YouTube channels is free and open to all indefinitely. You can freely draw information and teachings from it.
- In comments on the Speakingo blog, you pledge to use cultured language and express yourself on topics related to language learning. Comments on the blog as soon as they are published become the property of Speakingo.
- We reserve the right to edit comments on the blog without informing the author, especially deleting advertisements in them.
- Spamming, advertising and linking to other sites and language learning materials is prohibited.
- All rights to the texts reserved.
6 Speakingo Newsletter
- By signing up for a trial period of Speakingo’s online English course, you simultaneously sign up for the Speakingo Newsletter.
- Using the contact form https://speakingo.com/en/contact/ also implies consent to add the provided email address to the Speakingo Newsletter.
- The Speakingo newsletter is a message sent to the email used during registration. It contains information about new posts on the Speakingo blog and occasionally information about promotions, important matters related to the operation of Speakingo (for example, changes to these Terms).
- Speakingo does not commit to a specific number of Newsletters per month. Usually it is three per week. Each of them helps you to maintain continuity in learning English.
- You can unsubscribe from Speakingo Newsletter by clicking on the link in the footer of each Newsletter (this does not affect or relate to learning on the Speakingo English course itself).
7 Copyright
- Speakingo contains materials that are our property, created or purchased by us. These include the curriculum written by Dr. Greg Kay, PhD in English literary theory, the blog’s own or commissioned educational texts and all intellectual property, the word list, voiceover recordings, photos, animations, videos, website design, logo and branding. We reserve all rights to them.
- We use some of the materials under Creative Commons license rights with the option to modify and use for commercial purposes and under the terms of the
fair dealing
(e.g. memes), so they belong to their owners and it is up to them to dispose of them. However, if you feel that your copyright has been violated at some point, please contact us. - The 2,000-word list can be freely used for language learning purposes as long as you use the original design and shape along with the logo and web address.
- You may not sell or sublet the materials contained in Speakingo except by separate agreement.
8. payments
- After registration, you receive a free seven days to try our site by which you agree that the other deadlines specified in the laws of individual countries for free cancellation of online service no longer apply. The free period includes the full functionality of the service, but only within the first 5 examples of the first lesson of each grade level.
- Ways to buy access to the service:
- With an auto-renewable subscription. If, after selecting this payment option, you no longer wish to continue your studies, you must cancel the option to extend access to the service yourself, that is, cancel the subscription. You can cancel your subscription at any time in your student profile (My Payments tab). You do not need to give reasons for resignation. Termination is immediate – however, you do not lose the access you have already purchased, simply the next payment will not be collected. Failure to cancel the continuation of the study means that you agree to charge the next month’s tuition, indefinitely, until you cancel the service. Failure to address this issue does not result in the right to a refund or chargeback.
- With a one-time payment: 3 months of study or 12 months of study
- Using an acquired access code (“coupon”, including a gift coupon / gift card purchased through https://speakingo.com/profile/gifts/ ). Access coupons can be purchased directly from Speakingo or through authorized sales channels. There are also promotional coupons given away for free or according to the specifics of a particular promotion. Coupons can also be obtained through Speakingo’s charitable efforts. The coupons open access to the service for different periods of time and are priced differently depending on the offer, the length of validity or contract with a particular customer, etc. The coupon code is entered in the student profile (My Data tab), which you get access to after registration.
- You can pay using payment cards, bank transfer, according to the payment options offered in the My Payments tab.
- Payment can be made in various currencies. Exact pricing is listed on each language version separately and may vary.
- Access can also be purchased from mobile app stores(Play Store, App Store, Huawei AppGallery, etc.). Prices there may be higher due to exchange rate fluctuations.
- Purchased by any of the ways listed in section 8.2, access to the service allows for any number of repetitions during the validity of the purchased period of access to the service – both on the website and on the mobile application.
- If both payment methods are combined (including using promotional coupons), access to the service is extended by the number of days guaranteed by the coupon.
- The coupon must be activated on the website, otherwise it will not work. Valid from the date of activation for the period appropriate to the coupon.
- Unless otherwise specified for a particular coupon, they are not named, so there is no objection to gifting them to someone else or legally reselling them.
- The coupon can be activated for two years from the moment of issuance of the coupon (after activation, the study can go beyond this year, it is only about the activation of the coupon itself), provided that the coupon does not specify otherwise.
- The entity from which the user received the coupon is responsible for its correctness. Any complaints or requests for reimbursement should be addressed to him.
- When the free period and/or paid access period expires, you still have access to your profile, only the lessons are blocked. You can reactivate your account at any time by entering the coupon code in your profile or paying for further access to the service in My Payments.
- Transfers (including BLIK) we accept through the group Przelewy24 represented by PayPro SA (ul. Kanclerska 15, 60-327 Poznań, NIP: 779-236-98-87, Regon: 301345068, registered in the District Court in Poznań, VIII Economic Division of the National Court Register No. KRS 0000347935, amount of share capital: PLN 4,500,000, paid in full) according to the current options available in the My Payments tab on Speakingo. The Przelewy24 service operates an authorization and settlement system on the basis of the decision of the President of the National Bank of Poland No. 1/2011 dated 1.04.2011. and provides payment services as a national payment institution on the basis of the decision of the Financial Supervision Commission dated 10/06/2014, entered in the register of payment services under the number IP24/2014. The activities of PayPro SA as a National Payment Institution are subject to the supervision of the Office of the Financial Supervision Commission.
- Payments for recurring subscriptions, payments by credit or debit card, and in currencies other than zlotys can be paid through the scripts implemented on the site by the market leader in international payments Stripe, according to the current options available in the My Payments tab on Speakingo.
- Included in the course price is VAT at the rate appropriate to the country where you live and a fee for online payment. There are no hidden fees. We are not an active VAT payer.
- Within the European Union, Speakingo deducts VAT for customers according to their place of residence in accordance with OSS VAT procedures.
- Invoices are sent by email after the user receives notification of such a need and provides the necessary data for its issuance.
- The right to a refund applies if for technical reasons on the part of Speakingo (this does not apply if you run out of internet on your cell phone, your computer breaks down, etc.) the service is out of order for more than five working days. A refund in the size of the last payment will result in the inability to use the rest of the study days included in the refunded payment.
- Refunds are available if the card is stolen or the customer’s funds are used illegally. In order to obtain it, you must send proof of a report of theft or illegal use to the police, the fee paid within 7 days before the report to the police will then be refunded.
- There is no refund for unused study days, except as provided in paragraph 7.15 above and 12.3 below.
- In the event of liquidation or failure of the service, new fees will not be charged.
- Use of the site without registration or purchase of access rights beyond the free seven-day trial period is not permitted and will be prosecuted by us.
- For complaints not covered by these terms and conditions, complaints should be submitted by email to info (at) speakingo.com and will be processed within 14 days.
9. English for companies
- Access to the Speakingo course can be purchased in bulk on an individually negotiated basis.
- The company, organization or institution then additionally receives access to the HR Panel, where it can monitor the progress of its trainees. This requires registration through an individual registration link for employees of a company, institution or organization.
- A trainee registering via such a link realizes that his or her supervisor will be able to view his or her progress and see what email address was used when registering with the link sent by the supervisor.
- These terms and conditions provide a general basis for B2B relationships of companies, schools, institutions or other organizations purchasing wholesale access to Speakingo.
- This means that, as in the case of an individual customer, the company has time to test Speakingo’s functionality during the free trial period, and payment means confirmation that everything is working properly, and thus there are no grounds for a refund.
10. privacy policy
- The use of this site requires the use and storage of the customer’s personal information (their email), which the customer voluntarily provides in the registration form. This data will be used by Dr. Greg Kay’s company Speakingo to enable learning until you request deletion.
- Transaction data, including personal data will be used for payment processing by the institution through which the customer will make the payment, such as PayPro SA, Stripe, App Store, Google Play.
- Speakingo may use the personal information of site users for promotional purposes and to keep statistics, including sending commercial offers.
- The data you provide will be protected and will not be shared with others for purposes not related to the operation and development of English learning at Speakingo.
- Cancellation of a paid subscription does not mean complete deregistration from the service, it only means that the user is no longer charged and loses access to lessons. To completely deregister and delete your data from the Speakingo system, please send a message sent from your Speakingo registered email address, to info @ speakingo.com .
11. cookie policy
- The site uses a variety of cookies or so-called ” cookies “. cookies.
- Embedded content from other sites: Articles on this site may contain embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves analogously to how if a user visited a specific site directly. Sites may collect information about you, use cookies, attach additional third-party tracking systems, and monitor your interactions with embedded material, including tracking your interactions with embedded material if you have an account and are logged into that site.
- Cookies expire after one year.

12 Changes to Speakingo's terms of use and privacy policy.
- Speakingo has the right to unilaterally change the above provisions. Users will be informed of any changes by Newsletter (email).
- Continued use of the site implies agreement to the change and new terms and conditions and privacy policy.
- If you do not agree to the changes, you have the right to cancel your subscription and by email request a refund of your last payment, which will be refunded.
