Esto no me sorprende en absoluto. La teor\u00eda sobre los sustantivos verbales y los infinitivos en ingl\u00e9s es bastante confusa, pero \u00a1veamos de qu\u00e9 se trata!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Gerundio e infinitivo<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>El gerundio e infinitivo<\/em> es un \u00e1rea muy interesante en la gram\u00e1tica inglesa. Puedes complicarlo todo lo que quieras con la teor\u00eda, aunque en la pr\u00e1ctica tendr\u00e1s que acostumbrarte a las frases correctas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No obstante, te invito a que leas este post sobre el <em>gerundio y el infinitivo<\/em>. Son s\u00f3lo aquellos \u00abverbos que funcionan como sustantivos\u00bb. Por ejemplo, \u00abreading\u00bb <em>(lectura),<\/em> o \u00abswimming\u00bb <em>(nataci\u00f3n).<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por supuesto, ser\u00eda demasiado hermoso si pudi\u00e9ramos detenernos all\u00ed. Pero por curiosidad, s\u00f3lo dir\u00e9 que en la ling\u00fc\u00edstica espa\u00f1ola el gerundio es un modo no personal igual que en la ling\u00fc\u00edstica <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gerund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inglesa<\/a> <em>(nonfinite verb). <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, s\u00f3lo una de las cuatro situaciones en las que a\u00f1adimos la terminaci\u00f3n -ing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/kiedy-dodawac-stosowac-koncowke-ing-suffix-jezyku-angielskim-zasady.jpg\" alt=\"cuando a\u00f1adimos la terminaci\u00f3n -ing en ingl\u00e9s, sufijo, sufix, ending\" class=\"wp-image-17727\" srcset=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/kiedy-dodawac-stosowac-koncowke-ing-suffix-jezyku-angielskim-zasady.jpg 640w, https:\/\/speakingo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/kiedy-dodawac-stosowac-koncowke-ing-suffix-jezyku-angielskim-zasady-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><em>Vea tambi\u00e9n: <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/terminacion-ing-gerund-preposiciones-prepositions-before-after-without\/\">4 situaciones en las que a\u00f1adimos el sufijo -ing en ingl\u00e9s<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin entrar en <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/porque-no-vale-aprender-gramatica-inglesa\/\">discusiones gramaticales totalmente innecesarias<\/a>, vamos a hablar pr\u00e1cticamente de cu\u00e1ndo utilizar <em>el gerundio<\/em> en ingl\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"como-se-forma-el-gerund-en-ingles\">Entonces, \u00bfc\u00f3mo formamos este <em>gerundio<\/em> sustantivo-verbal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se a\u00f1ade <em>-ing<\/em> a <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/verbos-ingles\/\">los verbos<\/a>? Al parecer, simplemente pegamos esta terminaci\u00f3n al final de la palabra:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>read &#8211; read<strong>ing<\/strong><\/em><\/li><li><em>show &#8211; show<strong>ing<\/strong><\/em><\/li><li><em>talk &#8211; talk<strong>ing<\/strong><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> Aunque, por supuesto, al igual que en ingl\u00e9s, habr\u00e1 excepciones relacionadas con la ortograf\u00eda, como por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>lik<strong>e<\/strong>-liking, <\/em><\/li><li><em>run-run<strong>n<\/strong>ing, <\/em><\/li><li><em>lie-l<strong>y<\/strong>ing.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero asumo que, dado que est\u00e1s leyendo este texto, ya conoces esos fundamentos. Poco a poco vamos llegando al meollo de la cuesti\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay ciertos <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/verbos-ingles\/\">verbos <em>(verbs)<\/em><\/a> que deben ir seguidos <em>de un gerundio <\/em>. Sin embargo, otros verbos no pueden ir seguidos de un <em>gerundio<\/em>. Y despu\u00e9s de algunos, puede ir pero no tiene que ir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afortunadamente, no hay ninguna filosof\u00eda importante aqu\u00ed, s\u00f3lo hay que recordar lo que le gusta a la palabra. Por supuesto, <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/aprendizaje-de-frases-completas-oraciones-enteras-en-ingles\/\">lo m\u00e1s l\u00f3gico es aprender estas frases a partir de oraciones completas<\/a> en lugar de listas de palabras. Pero eso lo encontrar\u00e1s en<a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/curso-de-ingles-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> el curso de ingl\u00e9s online de 16px;\"><em>El gerundio<\/em> tambi\u00e9n se da despu\u00e9s de verbos no relacionados entre s\u00ed, como:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>suggest<\/em> (sugerir)<\/li><li><em>stop<\/em> (detener)<\/li><li><em>consider<\/em> (considerar)<\/li><li><em>admit<\/em> (admitir que&#8230;)<\/li><li><em>miss<\/em> (echar de menos)<\/li><li><em>finish<\/em> (terminar)<\/li><li><em>postpone<\/em> (posponer)<\/li><li><em>imagine<\/em> (imaginar)<\/li><li><em>avoid<\/em> (evitar)<\/li><li><em>deny<\/em> (negar)<\/li><li><em>risk<\/em> (arriesgar)<\/li><li><em>practice<\/em> (practicar)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Suddenly, everybody <strong>stopped talking. <\/strong> <\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(De repente todo el mundo dej\u00f3 de hablar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>He&#8217;s trying to <strong>avoid answering<\/strong> my class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>She denied stealing the money = She denied <strong>that<\/strong> she had stolen the money. <\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Ella neg\u00f3 haber robado el dinero).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Tom suggested going to the pub. = Tom suggested <strong>that<\/strong> we went to the pub<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Tom sugiri\u00f3 que fu\u00e9ramos a un pub).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, esto no nos facilita necesariamente la tarea, ya que para ello debemos tener un buen dominio del <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingo.com\/es\/lenguaje-dependiente-en-idioma-ingles\/\">estilo indirecto<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"que-es-un-infinitive-ingles\">2. \u00bfQu\u00e9 es un <em>infinitive<\/em>?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Infinitive<\/em> es el infinitivo en ingl\u00e9s. Y el infinitivo es la forma b\u00e1sica de un verbo, tal y como lo encontramos en una palabra (correr, saltar). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como en ingl\u00e9s un verbo suele tener el mismo aspecto que un sustantivo, anteponemos la preposici\u00f3n<em>\u00abto<\/em> \u00bb a los verbos ingleses. Por lo tanto, correr es<em>\u00abto run\u00bb<\/em> y saltar es <em>\u00abto jump\u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfY por qu\u00e9 la preposici\u00f3n <em>\u00abto\u00bb?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pues porque aparece muy a menudo en las frases en ingl\u00e9s. No basta con recordar cu\u00e1les de las palabras anteriores (y muchas otras&#8230;) gustan con <em>\u00abing\u00bb<\/em> y cu\u00e1les con <em>\u00abto<\/em>\u00ab&#8230;. porque algunos ocurrir\u00e1n en ambos casos. Y esto no ser\u00eda un problema en absoluto si no fuera porque a veces cambia el sentido de lo que estamos diciendo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"both-gerund-and-infinitive-to-ing-palabras-que-van-tanto\">Palabras que van tanto con <em>\u00ab-ing\u00bb<\/em> como con \u00abto\u00bb<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>En primer lugar, las palabras m\u00e1s populares aqu\u00ed ser\u00e1n las que describen si algo nos gusta o no mucho como:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>love<\/em> (me encanta, amo)<\/li><li><em>hate<\/em> (odio)<\/li><li><em>like<\/em> (me gusta)<\/li><li><em>enjoy<\/em> (disfruto)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I love dancing.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Me encanta bailar.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I love to dance. <\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Me encanta bailar.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El frases son super correctas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>It starts to rain. = It starts raining.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Empieza a llover)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con dos <em>ing<\/em> seguidos ya es demasiado:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><del><em>It&#8217;s start<strong>ing<\/strong> rain<strong>ing<\/strong><\/em>.<\/del><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s bien, elegiremos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>It&#8217;s starting to rain.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone size-full wp-image-12842\"><img regla general es esta:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>cuando la acci\u00f3n del primer verbo ocurre despu\u00e9s de la acci\u00f3n del segundo verbo damos &#8211;<em>ing<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>She denied stealing the money.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Ella neg\u00f3 haber robado el dinero).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[Primero fue el robo, luego la negaci\u00f3n de ese hecho].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mientras que<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>si mantenemos el orden, es decir, primero sucede la acci\u00f3n del primer verbo y s\u00f3lo despu\u00e9s la del segundo, damos ocurrir\u00e1 en casos como:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I <strong>regret saying<\/strong><\/em> <em>that. <\/em>  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Me arrepiento de haber dicho eso). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s bonito a\u00fan ser\u00eda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I regret having said that.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero tambi\u00e9n podemos decir con
